Traverse City Turkey Trot Sets a Thanksgiving Morning Start
A 5K run/walk and five-mile race give participants two November 26 options

The Traverse City Turkey Trot is scheduled for Thanksgiving Day, November 26, with two distances and two morning start times.

The official registration page lists the five-mile event at 8:45 a.m. and the 5K run/walk at 9 a.m., with the event location at 123 East Eleventh Street.

For families organizing a holiday morning, choosing the distance is the first step; checking registration and travel details should follow before other plans are fixed.

Read the current price tier

The race’s registration table is more useful than an older headline price when comparing the cost.

As of October 25, its October 17–November 6 tier lists $35 for the 5K and $40 for the five-mile race, before processing fees.

The table lists a $20 race fee for participants 17 and younger, also before processing.

Later registration tiers cost more, so review the official event-information page and the checkout total before purchasing.

Do not assume that a price visible in a general description is the current amount for your age group and registration date.

Save the confirmation so you can check which distance you selected.

Choose the outing your group actually wants

A 5K run/walk and a five-mile race are different commitments.

Ask whether people in your group want to walk together, run their own pace or simply meet before and after.

Agree on that plan before registration so nobody feels pressured into a different distance on the morning.

If you are attending with children, read the entry information for their ages rather than assuming the adult registration covers them.

The organizer’s 5K information permits strollers and dogs on non-retractable leashes; confirm the rules that apply to your own plan before bringing either.

Leave enough time for everyone to move through the pre-race routine without rushing.

Keep Thanksgiving timing realistic

A morning start can fit alongside a later holiday meal, but the race is only one part of the outing.

Include the drive, parking, check-in and the trip home when discussing your availability with relatives.

Avoid promising an exact return time based only on the scheduled start.

If members of the household choose different distances, decide how you will reconnect afterward.

Share the meeting plan and make sure the person arranging transportation knows both start times.

Prepare for the day you get

The organizer notes that November conditions can be unpredictable.

Check the forecast close to race day and review any course or weather updates from the race team.

Choose clothing and footwear you are comfortable using rather than making the event the first test of an unfamiliar setup.

Keep a dry layer available for after the activity if that suits your travel plan.

Follow official instructions at the start area and adjust your plans if conditions or your own circumstances change.

Use the correct event page

Several Northern Michigan events have turkey-themed names.

This story concerns the Traverse City Turkey Trot at the East Eleventh Street location, not Crystal Mountain’s Turkey Vulture Trot or Grass River’s Wild Turkey Trot.

Use the exact race name when sharing registration with friends.

Review the official page again before November 26 for current instructions and availability.

Then build the holiday morning around your chosen distance, its start time and a comfortable travel margin.
