State Theatre’s $1 Matinees Offer Three October Family Outings

Downtown Traverse City has a Saturday-morning movie option with a clearly advertised admission price. The State Theatre’s October children’s matinee page lists three remaining screenings at 10 a.m., each promoted at $1.

Casper is scheduled for Saturday, October 17, 2026; Coco follows on October 24; and Scooby-Doo is listed for October 31. The theater marks all three as PG on its matinee page. Use the individual ticket links to check the showing you intend to attend.

Choose the film before building the outing

The Casper ticket page confirms the October 17 screening at the State Theatre and lists a running time of 100 minutes. That gives families a concrete piece of information for planning that morning, while leaving time for arrival and the theater’s normal presentation.

The other films have their own ticket links on the matinee page. Check those rather than carrying Casper’s running time over to the rest of the series. The listed admission price and start time are common to the three advertised mornings; the films themselves are separate selections.

A PG rating is useful information, but it does not decide whether a film suits a particular child. Review the film description or trailer if themes, scares or other content could affect your choice. Pick the morning that fits your family’s interests instead of choosing only by the date.

Keep the ticket budget separate from other spending

At the advertised $1 admission rate, four tickets would have a $4 base cost: four multiplied by $1. That calculation covers admission only. It does not include concessions, parking or any checkout charge that has not been verified.

The event page supplies ticket links, but Cherry Buzz has not confirmed remaining seat availability or the final total at checkout. Review the selected date and purchase details directly before arranging a group visit.

A low admission price can leave flexibility for a separate lunch or another downtown stop. Treat those as optional additions to your own plan, not as parts of a bundled theater offer. If keeping the outing inexpensive matters most, decide on that budget before reaching the concession counter.

Check access and arrival details

The State Theatre is at 233 East Front Street. Its accessibility page says the main entrance is accessible and identifies main-floor wheelchair spaces with adjacent companion seating. The balcony is reached only by stairs.

The same page lists an accessible main-floor restroom and sound-amplifying headsets. Some additional access technology depends on a film being enabled for it, so contact the theater about the specific screening if that matters to your visit.

The theater’s parking guide identifies the Larry C. Hardy garage at 303 East State Street as a nearby option. It also discusses downtown meters and permit lots. Check signs and current parking guidance when you arrive rather than assuming a Saturday morning automatically means free parking everywhere.

The theater lists 231-600-7272 for contact. Allow time to park, walk to Front Street and get settled before the 10-a.m. start, especially if you need assistance or are coordinating several households.

Revisit the matinee page as the date approaches. With a chosen film, checked ticket details and an arrival plan, these three Saturday listings offer an indoor family outing that can stand on its own or become the start of a downtown day.

That’s worth considering, PG doesn’t tell the whole story for every child. A look at the description or trailer may help you decide whether Casper is a good fit.

tom_wSame here. The ghosts are pretty friendly, but my youngest still gets nervous with movies like that.

Megan R.Right? I might take the kids on the 24th. Hard to beat a dollar movie downtown.
