A Halloween-season outing in Traverse City is putting participation ahead of watching from a chair. The Alluvion’s Thriller Night dance class is scheduled for Wednesday, October 28, 2026, from 5 to 6 p.m., with choreography inspired by Michael Jackson’s Thriller.

The themed session is part of Wellness Wednesdays with Amelia Bell Sargent. The event page welcomes all ages and levels, with no dance experience or skill requirement. Costumes are optional, so visitors can choose a Halloween look or attend in their usual movement clothes.

A guided activity for newcomers

The organizer describes a class built around playful choreography and an approachable atmosphere. That is an invitation to try a themed movement session, not a promise that participants will leave with a complete performance mastered.

Wellness Wednesdays is presented as a monthly movement experience. Its general description includes a simple warm-up and guided freestyle movement, while the October session adds its Thriller-inspired theme. Follow the instructor’s directions for the actual class rather than expecting a concert or a screening of the music video.

For someone new to group dance, the published lack of an experience requirement is the useful detail. You can choose the class because you want to try the activity without needing to claim previous training or prepare a routine.

Check the admission category

The event lists $15 general admission and $5 for Commongrounds tenants or owners. It advertises both admission at the door and an advance ticket link. Confirm the category that applies to you before purchasing.

The reduced rate is tied to a stated Commongrounds relationship. It should not be treated as a general discount for every local resident. Ask the organizer if you are unsure whether you qualify.

Cherry Buzz has not confirmed the final advance checkout total or remaining places. Check the ticket link for availability and any terms, and avoid assuming that a door-payment option guarantees space if the class fills.

Plan a costume you can move in

If you choose a costume, think through how it will work while moving near other people. A clear view, comfortable footwear and accessories that stay out of the way are useful considerations. These are practical suggestions rather than a published dress code.

Bring questions about an accommodation or movement modification to the organizer in advance if they affect whether you can attend. An all-levels invitation does not answer every individual access question, and the instructor is the appropriate person to explain how the session works.

The Alluvion is on the second floor of Commongrounds at 414 East Eighth Street. Review the directions page before leaving and allow time to arrive and get ready ahead of the 5-p.m. start.

The class lasts one advertised hour, making it possible to plan your own meal or another stop afterward. Keep those arrangements separate from admission; the listing does not present the session as a food-and-drink package.

Check the specific October session

Use the Thriller Night page when sharing the plan with friends. Wellness Wednesdays has changing themes, so a general series description or a past class time should not replace the date-specific listing.

Recheck the event before October 28, choose the appropriate ticket and wear something that lets you participate comfortably. The result is a defined Halloween activity with an instructor, a one-hour window and an explicit welcome for beginners.
