Crystal Mountain Fall Weekends: Chairlift Views and Family Fun
Plan an October 10–11 outing with scenic rides, scarecrows, and seasonal activities

Crystal Mountain has an October outing on the calendar for Grand Traverse area families who want a fall view and a few activities in one stop.

Its Fall Fun Weekends program continues October 10–11 in Thompsonville, with chairlift rides and the start of a scarecrow display among the announced attractions.

The resort's detailed ride page identifies the Buck Quad Chairlift and lists operating hours of 10 a.m.–4 p.m. on both days.

Use that activity-specific listing when booking: a broader tourism overview describes autumn rides, but the resort supplies the current lift, ticket, and operating details.

Book the view first

October admission is listed at $15 for a day guest, with a $5 rate for children ages 3–6.

Riders must be at least three, so families with toddlers should check whether another activity better suits their group.

Resort houseguests and Four Seasons Club members receive complimentary rides under the resort's identification requirements.

Day guests are encouraged to reserve a 30-minute loading window rather than simply assuming they can arrive at any time.

The last lift departs 15 minutes before closing, which means 3:45 p.m. under the October 10–11 schedule.

Every rider needs a nontransferable Crystal Card, and participants must complete a waiver; a parent or guardian signs for anyone under 18.

Before paying, review the ride information and ask the resort about any needs specific to your party.

Make room for the scarecrows

The separate Fall Fun Weekends program says scarecrows will be posted and voting will begin October 10.

Saturday's activity list also includes pumpkin carving and fall sand art from 1–4 p.m. at the Mountain Adventure Zone, with each listed at $10.

Cider and pumpkin donuts are scheduled at the Mountain Market starting at 10 a.m., while supplies last.

Those offerings are separate from chairlift admission, so build a budget around the activities your group actually wants.

The alpine slide is listed for October 10–11, but its availability changes later in the month and the resort says it closes for the season October 25.

Do not assume every attraction runs throughout October or that every reservation covers the whole program.

A flexible afternoon

Cherry Buzz suggests choosing the ride as your anchor, then leaving a loose block for the scarecrow walk and one optional activity.

If someone prefers crafts to heights, ask about that activity's arrangements before making a lift reservation for the entire group.

Keep the meal plan flexible and check dining hours separately rather than fitting an unverified restaurant stop into a tight schedule.

For later weekends, check the lift calendar again: October 17–18 is listed at 10 a.m.–5 p.m., while October 24–25 returns to 11 a.m.–4 p.m.

Weather can change the plan

Chairlift operations are weather dependent, and the resort describes rescheduling or rain checks for weather disruptions.

Its policy also limits refunds for late cancellations and missed reservations, so read the terms before booking.

Dogs and beverages are prohibited on the lifts.

Cherry Buzz suggests bringing layers and deciding on an alternative before leaving home if the forecast looks uncertain.

Check the official schedule immediately before traveling, or call 231-378-2238 with unresolved questions.

The regional fall overview can help you explore other seasonal options without treating an autumn photo as a promise of peak color.

We understand, an actual photo of Crystal Mountain would be more helpful. That’s why we labeled this one as an illustrative stock photograph.
