Colibri Offers Traverse City a Wine Bar With a November Outing

Looking for a local business to try after the fall rush? Colibri Wine Bar gives Traverse City another option at 414 East Eighth Street, Suite 2, inside Commongrounds Cooperative. Its wine list, small-bites menu and upcoming board game evenings offer several ways to make a visit your own.

Colibri is a newer addition to the food-and-drink scene, rather than a just-announced storefront. Northern Express previewed a June 11 opening earlier this year, and the business is now operating. An October television feature renewed attention to the owners and their approach, making this a useful time to catch up with what is available.

Start with what you like to drink

Co-owners Guillaume Hazaël-Massieux and Bastien Le Guen discussed their global wine selection and small plates in 9&10 News’ October 20 feature. The point for a first visit is exploration without having to plan a trip through several tasting rooms.

The bar’s menu page links directly to the wine and food lists. The wine list checked October 30 includes both Michigan names and international selections: examples include MAWBY, Shady Lane and Left Foot Charley alongside wines from France, Spain and other regions.

Some entries are available by the glass and others by the bottle, so read the relevant column before ordering. You can start with a style you already know, describe it to staff and ask what might be a useful next choice. That is a practical approach to a long list, not a promise that a particular bottle will remain in stock.

A small outing with a shared activity

The official calendar lists Board Game Night on November 4 and another on November 11, both Wednesdays, from 5:30–6:30 p.m. The listed arrangement is simple: bring a friend or game, order food or a drink, and use tables set aside for the evening.

The organizer lists no separate game fee. Your food and drink purchases are additional, and the posted event window should guide your plans rather than assumptions about how long earlier evenings ran. Confirm the listing before heading out, particularly if you are coordinating a group.

Know the building and the schedule

Colibri’s website posts Monday–Saturday hours of 4–10 p.m., with Sunday closed, as checked October 30. Use the business directly for reservations, menu questions and any date-specific changes. A regular opening schedule is separate from a ticketed dinner or special event.

The setting is part of the appeal. Commongrounds Cooperative describes its Eighth Street building as a mixed-use community center with housing and organizations working across food, family, arts and wellness. Colibri occupies the ground floor near the Boardman River, placing a food-and-drink business within that broader mix.

For game night, pick something you can explain quickly and finish within the posted hour. Ask the venue about space if your group is large, and give other tables room to enjoy their evening.

Check dates again before leaving.

For a first visit, decide whether you want conversation over small plates or a scheduled activity with friends. Check the current menu and choose a comfortable spending plan before ordering. You do not need an elaborate evening to get acquainted with a newer neighborhood business—just a clear idea of when to arrive and what kind of stop you want.
