🍒 Cherry Buzz — Fruit Markets & U-Pick Around Grand Traverse

For mid-August, blueberries, raspberries, peaches, plums and other late-summer produce are the better crops to look for. Cherry U-pick is largely wrapping up: Third Coast Fruit Co. listed its 2026 cherry season through August 9, while apple picking generally comes later.

Here are some strong stops for Cherry Buzz readers:

• 🫐 Buchan's Blueberry Hill — Old Mission Peninsula. Known for U-pick blueberries, with apples later in the season. The farm also has a stand and ice cream. Current listing shows 8 AM–8 PM Mon–Sat and noon–8 PM Sunday. Because berry availability changes quickly, calling ahead is smart.
• 🫐 Noonan's Blueberry Farm — Interlochen. A straightforward U-pick blueberry farm. Current information confirms blueberries as its main U-pick crop; same-day availability should be checked before making the drive.
• 🍓 Berry Flats Fruit Farms — Kingsley. Seasonal U-pick and farm stand with strawberries earlier in the season and additional crops including raspberries, cherries, peaches and apples as the season progresses.
• 🍎 Rennie Orchards — Williamsburg. Family-run orchard offering U-pick fruit depending on what's ripe. Particularly known for cherries and later-season apples.
• 🍓 Guntzviller's Berry And Vegetable Farm — Williamsburg.
  Farm stand and U-pick operation known especially for strawberries and raspberries. Their raspberry season typically begins in July, but day-to-day picking availability can change.
  
  
• 🥕 GALLAGHER'S FARM MARKET AND BAKERY — Traverse City. A classic farm-market stop for seasonal produce plus baked goods, pies and donuts.
  
  
• 🌽 Edgecomb's Farm Market — Traverse City. Local seasonal produce with a particular emphasis on home-grown vegetables and locally sourced Northern Michigan fruit.
  
  
• 🍒 Altonen Orchards US 31 Market — Williamsburg. Roadside orchard market with seasonal Northern Michigan fruit and vegetables.
  
  
• 🥬 Lakeview Hill Farm & Market — Leelanau Peninsula. Certified-organic farm market with produce, fruit and other locally made products.
  
  
• 🧺 Sara Hardy Downtown Farmers Market — Downtown Traverse City. One of the easiest places to shop multiple local growers at once. Current hours are Wednesday 8 AM–noon and Saturday 7:30 AM–noon.

For August 12–18, I'd feature “Blueberry Picking on Old Mission Peninsula” with Buchan's as the centerpiece, then add a farm-market stop afterward. That's more seasonally appropriate right now than promoting cherry picking.
